Meuse Carpet for province of Limburg

I was asked to make a carpet as part of an exhibition made by Studio Kernland about the history of the building. The design represents the river Meuse, which is partially flowing under the Provincial Government Building in Maastricht (NL). After making pictures from the river in different weather types I searched for the right pallet of colors in close collaboration with the carpet maker, on one hand matching with the interior and on the other hand close to the green colors of the river. The result is a olive green and grey carpet, with different heights of tuft yarns to give ‘water’ the dynamics of a real river.
